Borelians Win Big At ACT-CO!

The ACT-CO Gala was held a few weeks ago in Vaughn, celebrating community theatre throughout Toronto and the GTA. The Borelians were rewarded with several THEAs, including Best Production of a Drama for our fall show, The Drawer Boy!

David Geene, who played Morgan, won the THEA for Best Actor in a Drama. His co-star, John Lunman, was also nominated for Best Actor. Helen Coughlin, the director of The Drawer Boy, was nominated for Best Director, and Joanne Norman was nominated for Best Lighting Design.

Office Hours, our winter production, was also recognized at the ACT-CO Gala, with Michael Serres being nominated for Best Sound Design in a Comedy, and Ruth Smith winning a THEA for Best Stage Management.

The Drawer Boy continues the award-winning tradition for Borelians Community Theatre. By our count, this is the eighth time in 30 years that one of our efforts has won a THEA for best production (this doesn’t include the handful of productions that have been nominated!). When you think of the number of community theatres in the GTA this is a huge accomplishment!

Congratulations to everyone!
