The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society!

On Sunday, November 4, 2012, let the Borelians take you back in time…

“At the war’s end, I, too, promised myself that I had done with talking about it. I had
talked and lived war for six years, and I was longing to pay attention to something –
anything – else. But that is like wishing I were someone else. The war is now the story of
our lives, and there’s no subtracting it.”

January 1946: Writer Juliet Ashton receives a letter from a stranger, a founding member
of the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. And so begins a remarkable tale of
the island of Guernsey during the German occupation, and of a society as extraordinary
as its name.

The Borelians Community Theatre is proud to present a reading of the wonderful novel,
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. Sit back to hear the story of the
Channel Islanders who spent five years during WWII under German occupation, and the
ways in which they coped. It is romantic, yet real; the characters are eccentric yet kind,
keeping their good humour in the face of unthinkable circumstances. These extraordinary
people are vividly brought to life by many of the Borelians’ talented actors. It is an
experience not to be missed!

Please join us at Town Hall 1873 on Sunday, November 4, 2012, at 2 p.m. or 8 p.m.
Tickets are $15 for all ages.
